Perhaps the biggest controversy coming out  of this weekends Merseyside derby was Everton striker Kevin Mirallas’  tackle on Luis Suarez. Mirallas came charging in with studs up and made contact with Suarez’s right knee. The crushing challenge left Suarez bleeding and hobbling. Match official Phil Dowd appeared to be listening intently to his ear piece before cautioning the Everton man. Brendan Rodgers remarked that if Suarez had made the challenge he would have undoubtedly been sent off. The Liverpool skipper had this to say:

“I thought he should have been sent off,”“It would have been interesting if Luis had made the challenge. Kevin Mirallas looks a really honest player but that was a real, real bad challenge in every way – real or slow motion. He caught him on the back of his knee and that can end your career. He [Mirallas] had another one when he has jumped up and gone down the back of Luis.”

Enrique Update

BBC Sport has confirmed that Liverpool left back has successfully undergone surgery to repair his knee. The club has said he will be expected to return to Melwood in about 10 weeks time.

“Enrique is expected to return to full training at Melwood in around 10 weeks’ time”

Yann M’Vila Rumors

The ridiculous rumor of the week has already appeared to has surfaced. Frenchman Yann M’Vila was spotted in the away end of Goodison Park during the weekends derby. He is now linked with a massive move to Liverpool. Perhaps the real reason he was there was to visit fellow countryman Mamadou Sakho.
