It’s been such a busy summer at Anfield that it can be hard to take it all in and assess which signing is best and why. But by all accounts there is one in particular that is impressing more than most as the reds prepare to kick off their American tour.
Joe Allen has ben there a couple of years now and has seen the likes of Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto flit in and flit out, but the Welsh international has been suitably impressed by one of the clubs latest acquisitions, Lazar Markovic.
“Obviously he has only done a couple of sessions,” the former Swansea man told Liverpoolfc.com of his new teammate. “But straight away, you can see the quality that he brings.”
“I’m really excited to get the chance to play with him and train alongside him as well.”
The strengths of the new Liverpool man seem to be his lightening pace and ability to beat a man one on one. They are qualities that boss Brendan Rodgers loves in his players and if they can work on his ability to close down space and defend from the front then we will have some player on our hands.
“Young Markovic is a really exciting talent. He’s the kind of player I like, who can beat people in one versus one [situations]. He’s good in the duel, but he also works hard – so he doesn’t just run forward quickly, he runs back even quicker, which is important,” said Rodgers about his new star.
