He hasn’t even kicked a ball in anger for his new club, but the 25 million GBP midfielder, Adam Lallana, will have to wait a little longer after he was ruled out of action for around six weeks.
According to the clubs official website the England international had a knock to the knee during training in the USA damaging ligaments in the process.
“Liverpool have today confirmed Adam Lallana has suffered a knee injury in training and is set to miss the start of the new season,” said reports on www.liverpoolfc.com
“The midfielder, who moved to Anfield from Southampton earlier this month, sustained a knock to his lateral collateral ligament during a session at the Reds’ Harvard University training base in Boston. Lallana has been assessed by Liverpool’s medical staff and does not require surgery. No specific timeframe has been placed on a return to fitness, but injuries of this nature can result in a spell of anywhere up to six weeks on the sidelines. The England international will undergo further assessment by the club’s medical team in the United States and on return to Liverpool.”
It is for situations just as this that boss, Brendan Rodgers, was so keen to add to his squad this summer. With Lallana out it gives other new boys Lazar Markovic and Emre Can a chance to get off on the right foot when the EPL kicks off in just a matter of weeks.
