Liverpool legend, John Aldridge, has joined Steve Nicol in urging Brendan Rodgers to sign another striker. Aldridge knows a little bit about finding the back of the net and feels that a direct replacement for Luis Suarez is must if they are to build on the success of last season.
“I thought Remy for £8.5m was a very shrewd buy but it’s fallen through for whatever reason, so Liverpool do need another striker in my opinion should something happen,” Aldridge told Sky Sports.
“Who is out there? Falcao, they’re saying he had a horrendous season last year.
“He was a bit part of the player he was last season. If he can get back to where he was the previous season then he would be one wouldn’t he?”
Liverpool have made no secret of the fact that they would like to sign another striker despite the capture of Rickie Lambert from Southampton. Unfortunately moves for Loic Remy and Alexis Sanchez have failed to materialize and Rodgers has now said that he could now be happy to wait until January to get the right man. A move for Falcao is improbable and another possible target, Frenchman, Karim Benzima, has stated that Liverpool is not a big enough club for him to join. This has left many people feeling that another swoop on Southampton could come in the shape of Jay Rodriguez when he recovers from his knee injury in a few months time.
