Hopefully Liverpool can keep going in this fine vein of form come Friday night football. This will be a real test for this questionable midfield.

The Liverpool midfield three are doing ever so well to keep critics at bay. Captain Jordan Henderson, engine Adam Lallana and silent killer Georginio Wijnaldum, are improving game by game.

In previous articles I said something needs to change in order to get better results. Seems the jokes on me now, as it appears only time was and is still needed for this team to click as we’d hoped them to.

As well noted from the start of the season, we were unable to see who fits where, who sits and who plays. With new signings coming in and a handful of players operating in the same position. It was hard to see who plays where.

Jurgen Klopp seems to have stuck to his guns and kept the midfield constant in order for them to improve and boy is he and Liverpool reaping the benefits of it thus far.

They seem to be getting the movement on and off the ball right. All three men work tirelessly on the field, which has been evident since game one. They have been working hard between the full 90 minutes of each match.

With Henderson and Wijnaldum still finding their feet in a newly appointed role. It’s safe to say, they are adapting well.

Jordan Henderson’s improvement:

Henderson has been racking up some impressive numbers since the start of the campaign. With 387 touches, 284 completed passes, and a pass accuracy of 89%. Henderson seems to be flourishing in his new deep-lying roll.

He also managed to complete 19 tackles and create 5 chances. Nothing short of a great start to me. For a player well established in the roll, this would be a normal feet to achieve and sometimes not, as for a player adapting in the EPL, this is a great achievement for the young man.

More from Rush The Kop

Henderson had a part to play in two of Liverpool’s four goals the weekend past, Delivering inch perfect passes.

Definite improvement needed in his shooting ability, but one thing at the time for the Liverpool skipper. Other than this, more of the same please.

Georginio Wijnaldum letting his game do the talking:

This player been getting a lot of stick, but has been soaking up the pressure easily with decisive passes, strong holdup play and precise movement on and off the ball.

We expect more from the player yes, but I guess we can’t ask for too much. Playing deeper than usual and in a new team, not always the easiest task, but Wijnaldum been taking it well in his stride.

With two assists in two important games, Wijnaldum has nothing to be dissatisfied about. Linkup play between Lallana and him has been outstanding to say the least.

Lallana with a screamer of a goal and Wijnaldum with strong holdup play and awareness of what’s going on around him to provide the assist. Everything leading up to the goal was fantastic.

Adam Lallana finally fitting the price tag:

Lallana needs only to continue doing what he has been since the arrival of Klopp. Not many things needed improving excepting his final ball, be it a delivery or shot on goal.

In four games he managed two goals and one assist. that’s a massive improvement to start of a campaign for Lallana in a Red’s shirt.

He has managed a match rating of 7.35 with a pass accuracy of 85.2%. All the signs of Liverpool’s midfield three playing above the hate. If he continues to play this way, he might just prove to be the most important player to our team this season.

Currently it’s hard to say who’s leading the race, but I’m pretty sure it’s Sadio Mane.

Friday night will be the toughest test yet. Where these three go up against two of the leagues best midfielders in, N’Golo Kanté and Nemanja Matić. What a match up early on the season.

Time to see if we can become consistent as our midfield has been.
