I know I know, I said youth and no first team players but sadly I need to admit a lack of knowledge in our youth centre backs. When it comes to our first team defenders, there’s only Kolo Toure who doesn’t get much playtime, and Martin Skrtel looks set to depart.

Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho are our strongest pair, and Joel Matip will need to prove he is capable of separating them and fitting in. The more game time he has the better, as I think he’ll be an excellent addition to our defence .

I’d also love to see more of Tiago Ilori, who confuses me so much. He barely gets any game time, and didn’t even make it into the Aston Villa team, yet looked decent when he played for us. I’m scared he has some dark secret that nobody can know about…
