Jerzy Dudek /// 186 appearances /// 1 MAGICAL NIGHT IN ISTANBUL

What an incredible photograph this is. Absolutely beautiful.

Dudek played for Liverpool 186 times and that night in Istanbul in 2005 was all the club could ever ask from him. Once Liverpool clawed back into the match from 3-0 down to make it 3-3, he played like a man possessed.

Even before the penalty shootout, he had the greatest save I’ve ever seen on Andriy Shevchenko– and that’s no hyperbole. We literally watched the peak of the man’s life that night.

Other than that Champions League triumph, Dudek won the League Cup and FA Cup during his time at Liverpool.

That match was his last as Liverpool’s first choice keeper. The subsequent summer, Pepe Reina was brought in and Dudek was moved to the bench before he left for Real Madrid in 2007.
