In 2003, Houllier signed Finnan from Fulham for £3.5million. It was thought that Jamie Carragher’s place in the first team was under threat, which inspired one of the funniest quotes from Carragher:

"“There’s no point sulking about it,” Carra told Sky Sports. “There’s not a lot you can do, except impress the manager in training and in games. Or find out Finnan’s address and send the boys round!”"

Absolutely hilarious.

Finnan would be at Liverpool until the end of the 2007-08 campaign when he’d move on to Espanyol. The defender would win the 2005 Champions League with Liverpool as well as the 2007 FA Cup.
