Watch Divock Origi score his first Wolfsburg goal

Liverpool loan striker Divock Origi scored his first goal for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga on Tuesday night.

The Belgian joined the German side on a season long loan deal and it took him three games to hit the back of the net.

It was revealed earlier in the year that the Reds inserted a clause into the transfer that compelled Wolfsburg to pay a penalty if Origi failed to play a certain amount of games, and that incentive seems to be working as the striker has featured in every match since his arrival.

The decision by manager Jurgen Klopp to send the forward out looks to be a good one – at the age of 22 he needs regular first team football and Liverpool have a crowed field of attackers.

When Daniel Sturridge can’t make the field and Danny Ings has to make do with 10 minutes here and there, Origi will feel on top of the world playing regular football for a top flight team.

However, the Belgian is yet to taste his first win on the continent as Wolfsburg have drawn two games 1-1 and lost one 1-0 since his arrival.

A lack of firepower up top would seem to signal why Origi was brought to the side, although the creative engine seems to have stalled in the midfield as well.

Liverpool are not without their own problems in attack as they have only scored once in the last two games, despite countless shots on goal and a hoarding of possession.

The Reds next game is against Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday, while Wolfsburg play Bayern Munich on Friday night.
