Center Back: Ragnar Klavan

We see you Ragnar. Just getting on with it. Hardly anyone believes in you. No one is buying your shirt or singing songs about you. But you just get on with it. Defending, competing, doing the job to decent level.

The Estonian has had a run of games for the club due to successive injuries to Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip. In that time he has been the picture of mediocre consistency. Sometimes a 6/10 but usually a 6/10. Never and 8/10.

Mediocre is not going to win us trophies. We know that. But it will tide us over while better players are injured (Matip) or struggling (Lovren) or not quite ready (Gomez) or not yet at the club (van Dijk).

Decent Premier League squads have a few players like Klavan. But in the age of the Billionaire owner and £200 million transfer fees, decent will not get us where we want to be. But that is not going to change, at least for a month. A very important month.

Therefore we need to embrace Raggy. Get behind him, cheer him on. Make him feel a thousand feet tall. We will need him playing well is we want to clinch a top four spot. (I think we can say the title has long gone M*nchester). He will be needed to play Premier League games while we try and stay near the top of the league, win the FA Cup and cause havoc in the Champions League.
