Bayern have a number of issues with their squad. A whole swathe of key players are over 30: Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Rafinha, Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer, Mats Hummels, Sandro Wagner and Jerome Boateng.

The younger generation in Munich are talented but they have not become ruthless like Bayern teams of the past. They’ll also be missing Thomas Muller for the first leg through suspension.

Despite the aging squad the Bayern fans were confident at progressing against almost all the second seeded teams.

Liverpool are their worst nightmare. It is not so much the poverty of the Bayern side that really worries their fans it is the strength of these rampant Reds.

Here are the three reasons Bayern fans have given why they are so frightened of Liverpool above all others in the Champions League this season.
