Liverpool v Crystal Palace: Key player with injury concern is “100% available”

Liverpool have a number of injury concerns ahead of the Premier League matchup with Crystal Palace tomorrow but Virgil van Dijk is “100% available”.

After a reasonably injury-free start to the Premier League season, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has growing listen of concerns for availability. However, he confirmed today that Virgil van Dijk will be ready to face Crystal Palace tomorrow.

Van Dijk picked up a knock on international duty for the Netherlands this week but has been cleared to feature at Selhurst Park.

Klopp was asked about the Dutchman and a handful of other concerns in his pre-match press conference today. He responded directly to the enquiry:

“In a moment, yes. Virgil is 100% available.”

That is fantastic news considering that Joel Matip is still recovering from his injury and Joe Gomez came home early from England duty.

The other major concerns are Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson. Both have been struggling with ankle injuries and missed their international fixtures with Egypt and Scotland respectively.

Klopp spoke about how important today’s training session would be to assess the pair and others who are returning from busy international schedules like Brazilian trio Fabinho, Roberto Firmino & Alisson Becker, and Dutch star, Gini Wijnaldum.

The Reds will look to consolidate their eight point lead at the top of the table with a win against Roy Hodgson’s Eagles. While the fans will be most concerned about three points for the title challenge, putting one over on Hodgson is always a nice bonus.
