Klopp may have a big selection dilemma once Matip is fully fit

On 7th January this year, Dejan Lovren was injured during an FA Cup match against Wolves which resulted in him being sidelined for a couple of months. By then, Joel Matip established himself as a regular under Jurge Klopp.

Now, it’s the other way around. Matip has been sidelined and Lovren has been doing fine in the first-team. Yester, the Croat produced a fine performance at the back and has formed a pretty strong partnership at the heart of the defence alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Given how Lovren’s doing, Klopp will certainly have a tough time choosing between him and Matip. Nevertheless, the Liverpool manager will certainly be happy with the fact that he has plenty of options in central defence, something which will turn out to be very crucial when the fixtures pile up.

And don’t forget he can always turn to Joe Gomez as well, and will probably have to in order to take some pressure off the full-backs for Christmas.
