Too early for a statue?

With his calmly struck penalty, Salah moved about Fernando Torres in terms of goals scored for Liverpool. It took the Spaniard 105 attempts to hit his 65 goals, while the Egyptian has it in 93. That’s an amazing record, and his penalty might not be the best one Salah has scored in red but it was vital nevertheless.

His assist for the Ox was a thing of beauty as well. It was real eye-of-the-needle stuff as he threaded the ball through to his midfielder. But the King wasn’t done and he still found time to hit the post as Liverpool looked for a third goal.

After that amazing debut campaign on Merseyside, we all held our breath and waited for him to make sure it wasn’t a fluke – a one hit wonder. After all, wasn’t this the man that Chelsea got rid of?

But Salah has consistently shown that he’s among the world’s best forwards and he will certainly go down in Anfield folk law as one of the best to play for the club. If he sticks around for the next few years and delivers for trophies, more Premier Leagues and more European glory he may even cement his place as the best ever.
