RB – Trent Alexander-Arnold

There’s nobody else to play in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s position and you wouldn’t want anyone else in there anyway. We thought that Neco Williams might take his place last week, but it wasn’t to be.

Alexander-Arnold will need to have a rest at some point, but a crucial Champions League game isn’t the right moment. Liverpool need his passing range and creativity, which could make all the difference in a game that looks set to be an incredibly good watch.

CB – Joe Gomez

At the star of the season Joe Gomez was having a rough time of it, but following Virgil van Dijk’s injury he has started to come good. The former Charlton man has got everything in his locker to be elite, and he’ll need to lead the line against this fluid, threatening attack.

He has a solid performance against the Hammers but still played well, and at this moment in time he’s not injured – which is absolutely crucial.

Matip has traveled with the squad to Italy but will it prove too soon for the former Cameroon international? With his previous record, you’d assume so.

CB – Rhys Williams

Despite Nat Phillips putting in a man of the match performance against West Ham, the inexperienced youngster won’t be involved in this game because he’s not in the Champions League squad.

With Matip and Fabinho doubts for the game, it’ll fall to Rhys Williams to partner Gomez in the most difficult game of the season this season. Watching Williams deal with Atalanta will be fascinating and it’ll really give us a glimpse as to where he’s at.

LB – Andy Robertson

Kostas Tsimikas is in this match squad after going missing since September, but it’s unlikely that we’ll see him in this game. This one could be too soon for the Greek international – keep an eye out for the Leicester squad.

Andy Robertson just needs to keep going here, without picking up an injury.
