Gerrard has high hopes for this Liverpool star.

By scoring during Liverpool’s 5-0 mauling of Atalanta on Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League, Mo Salah has now equalled the scoring record of Steven Gerrard, in terms of goals scored in the UEFA Champions League.

The goal the Egyptian King scored was his 21st in the Champions League. When interviewed, Gerrard mentioned that he hopes Salah will far exceed his scoring record.

Since Salah joined the Reds for £36.7 million in2017, he has been an instant hit and a fan favourite for Klopp’s men. He has helped them win the Premier League, Champions League, Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

Steven Gerrard was delighted to see the two-time African Player of the Year match his feat. Gerrard hopes that the 28-year-old can smash all possible scoring records and go all the way to writing his own name in the hall of fame at Anfield. A sentiment which many of the club’s supporters likely echo.

During his interview, speaking to Ranger’s website via the Liverpool Echo, Gerrard mentioned, “Records are there to be broken, of course they are. I was very proud to see Mo Salah equal my scoring record for Liverpool in Europe, it was only a matter of time. I honestly think he’ll go on and embarrass my record and I hope that he does.”

Many people would not have believed how much of a goal-scoring phenomenon Salah would have become for the Reds. He has become the focal point of Jurgen Klopp’s attack. He is the third quickest to 100 Premier League goals for Liverpool. Salah hit the ground running back in 2017 and has consistently sprinted along since then.

The way things are and given the way Jurgen Klopp sets his teams up to press high and defend from the front, we are sure that Salah will continue to score goals and break and /or make records at Liverpool.

Only time will tell just how ’embarrassing’ things could get for the Liverpool club legend.
