RB – James Milner

The one thing we didn’t want to see happen has come to light. Trent Alexander-Arnold is so vital to this team but now he’s picked up an injury. Neco Williams seems to be the designated right-back back-up, but is he ready?

Leicester have been flying and this will be a big ask for Klopp to throw Williams in at the deep end. When Alexander-Arnold hobbled off the field against Manchester City, it was Milner that Klopp turned to.

Milly can play across both full-back positions and brings leadership and a level of solidity at the back, even if that means the Reds won’t be as good moving forward. For security, Milner starts.

CB – Joel Matip

Joel Matip hasn’t got much choice with this one, he has to start. Matip will have benefited from that extra time on the training ground, and will have been able to maintain fitness and get over any niggles that might have occured.

With van Dijk and Gomez out, the former Cameroon international is vitally important.

CB – Rhys Williams

The pace and trickery of the Foxes front line mean that Williams should get a start over Phillips. While Phillips enjoyed a productive debut against West Ham, he’s not as quick as Williams nor is he as good with the ball at his feet.

Williams played well in the Champions League and does seem to fit the game plan of Klopp a little bit better than Phillips.

LB – Andy Robertson

There were injury fears about Robertson while he was on Scotland duty, who felt a hamstring issue after they beat Serbia. However, he was included in the squad for their Nations League clash against Israel.

Hopefully that means he’ll be able to come straight back into the side with no worries.
