Centre-back: Rhys Williams

Joel Matip can’t be risked for this one, his body is too fragile. Plus, Williams has done okay in his Champions League appearances so far and will be in line to collect another European cap.

It’s likely he’ll be partnered with another youth player, so this will be a real test for him and his central defensive buddy. They’re going to have to go against an attack who are no mugs and repel them, all without any senior experience. It’ll be a tough ask, but also a good exercise to see where Williams is at.

Centre-back: Billy Koumetio

Is this the moment we see Billy The Kid in a Liverpool shirt? Nat Phillips isn’t registered for the Champions League so he can’t partner Williams, but Billy Koumetio can.

Fabinho has done very well at the back, but he’s another who deserves to be left at home – we need him for Fulham at the weekend and then Tottenham Hotspur the week after that.

Koumetio impressed during pre-season, but picked up a few niggly injuries and was prevented from taking part in first-team squads because of that. This could be the big Frenchman’s time to shine.

Right-back: Neco Williams

To be honest, Neco Williams is one who could almost do with a rest. Except, there isn’t anyone who could come in for the young Welsh international.

He put in an accomplished performance against Wolves at the weekend and will want to prove that he’s becoming more consistent by backing that up in Denmark. Williams has experienced plenty of abuse at the hands of Twitter Reds, but another good 90 minutes will go a long way to silencing those doubters.

Don’t forget, this is still a young man making his way in the game. A little patience is required. Expect Trent Alexander-Arnold to come on for another fitness-building substitute appearance.
