Real Liverpool fans please stand up; the #FSGOUT brigade please calm down
By Zubin Daver
Hey Liverpool fans, what’s with the #FSGOut Brigade? What happens to the YNWA belief?
What we are going through is demoralising and frustrating, I agree! But I am sure that the team is going through a rough phase after two and a half wonderful seasons. I am sure the Liverpool players, support staff and coaches are doing their best to get us out of the slump.
These are the times we need to support our team even more. Otherwise, we will be just some plastic fans. We are known to be a fanbase that understands the sport and how things function and how a club is run. Some of us fans are behaving like they do not, especially the #FSGOut brigade.
This is not a personal attack on anyone, but the fact is I hope they do not leave for a long, long time!
Many of those who believe the owners should sell the club are those that have a very short memory or a short temper. This is no personal attack on anyone, but this is my opinion. I hope they stay our owners for a very long time.
A few reasons I think that Fenway Sports Group should stay owners are
They are the very reason we are where we are:
Back in 2010, they saved us from administration. Over a period of time, they helped us get ahead of those dark days with small investments of money; seeking stability. Under Brendan Rodgers, we took a few long strides and then since 2016 or so we’ve been a highly stable team. In fact, a team who is envied by fans and a club that most rivals want to emulate.

Lastly, our rough patch is because of:
- Congested fixture schedule: Given that we are amidst a pandemic, the schedule has been highly hectic. Yes, it’s so for all teams, but the fact is the style of play, training methods and intensity, as well as squad depth, is different for each team. So it is evident that playing gegenpress is something that takes a toll on the body. Players barely have any recovery time, no training time and sometimes no time for rest.
- Multiple Injuries: Many believe that fans are making excuses, but the fact of the matter is that Liverpool have had almost half the first team listing the medical room. Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Alisson Becker, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Nahy Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin, Joe Gomez and Diogo Jota have been missing for lots of games. This changes the balance of the team as well as forces a change in the style of play. This by doesn’t mean we need to spend 20-30 million for stop-gap arrangements. These players will be back to their best sooner than we know. All we need as fans is patience and all players ask for in return is support.
- Covid-19: A number of players have suffered Covd-19. Thiago, Mane, Keita, Shaqiri, Salah, Trent Alexander Arnold (before the season, but effects have lasted) have all been infected. This means they have missed a few games and/or have some lasting effects of the virus as well.
We fans have to learn to take a punch to the chin and move on. Support the team. We are Liverpool. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. With the belief that none of us will walk alone, why do we look at asking the owners to sell during a rough patch?
If you believe it, then say it and stick to it!
FSG – You’ll Never Walk Alone!
