Right-back: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 5.5

At least it wasn’t the repetitive crossing style that we usually see from Trent, but it was right back to square one for the lad from West Derby.

His defensive work was okay at best, leaving gaps in behind for the gigantic Dan Burn and tricky Trossard on occasions.

Need a Spurs-style performance against City. At this rate, it’s hard to know whether we’ll see Alexander-Arnold or his evil, rubbish, twin brother in the line-up.

Centre-back: Nat Phillips – 6

Again, Phillips can hold his head high for a decent performance against some difficult forwards to defend against.

The inclusion of Phillips and Jordan Henderson was meant to be for defensive solidity, not the only source of any form of creativity. It’s not far to ask for that from the lad from Bolton, though, and he did his job abely.

Booted it off Alzate but to no fault of his own.

Centre-back: Jordan Henderson – 6.5

Okay, I guess. Probably Liverpool’s best outfielder in all honesty and that says it all.

Henderson, being the one creating things whilst at centre-back, is a pointer for the midfielders who in all honesty, were atrocious. The trio of Thiago, Wijnaldum and James Milner should have done better.

He wasn’t even good, but the best of an awful bunch.

Left-back: Andy Robertson – 3

Zero creativity, zero crossing ability, just nothing from Andy Robertson.

The Scotsman genuinely might have had his worst game in a Liverpool shirt, there is just no excuse. I get he’s tired, I get the COVID schedule, but that. That on the Anfield turf this evening was nothing short of an insult to the previously brilliant work he has put in since his arrival.
