Rickie Lambert was signed from Southampton for 4 million GBP. Liverpool added him for depth at the forward position. However, due to injuries he has been called into action a lot more than expected. Despite his amount of playing time Lambert has only netted 1 goal in 14 appearances.
Lambert has shown his age on the pitch this season. The 32 year old forward has looked unable to run or jump after 30 minutes. He has been a disappointment so far. Granted he was not signed to play the amount of games he has been forced into. But his performances on the pitch have been uninspiring.
Up to this point in the season Lambert has earned himself a D. In the new year he needs to strictly be used as a sub or in lesser competitions like the Europa League.
