Nathaniel Clyne: Clyne started off with a 76 rating last season. But after a fantastic season for the young right-back, he finished it on 81. After a big move, he should be rated higher next year, but probably not by much. Even if he’s not rated as high as we would hope, he won’t be worse than Glen Johnson, who EA got spot on as he was never in position.

Prediction: 82

Alberto Moreno: He, like most of the squad, had a very mixed season. Moreno started off very well and looked to be something new and dynamic. But as the season progressed, his defensive vulnerabilities got exposed. It’s doubtful that he’ll increase by much if at all, but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he will. Don’t worry, he’ll still be very quick.

Prediction: 79

Jon Flanagan: I could just as easily do a prediction on whether Flanagan will be a right-back or a left-back on FIFA 16. Only EA know. The young Englishman was rated 71 last season, which was a bit disappointing to me, but after a season where he didn’t play a single game, it’s likely he’ll fall from that rating. EA are pretty ruthless with injuries and will drop a players rating if he’s been out too long. Flanagan will have to have another breakout season if he want’s to get above 71.

Prediction: 69

Joe Gomez: Yes I’m fully aware that Gomez’s natural position is at centre-back. But as we have seen in pre-season, it seems as though Rodgers will be keeping the youngster mainly as a back up to either Clyne or Moreno. Gomez was rated 55 on FIFA 15. He’ll no doubt be massively upgraded this season, but it’s tricky to predict what his rating will be as it will mostly be based on EA’s assessment of his potential.

Prediction: 70
