The mentioning of Aspas to Liverpool fans is anathema.

Aspas was brought on in 2013 as an attempt to add depth to Rodgers’ options in the attack. He (obviously) took a backseat to Suarez and Daniel Sturridge as Liverpool flirted with a euphoric and incredibly unlikely attempt to win the Premier League.

Like the man he follows in this list, he scored one solitary goal. His was in the FA Cup, unlike Balotelli’s Premier League winner. Aspas made a total of 15 appearances. His most infamous contribution was his abhorrent attempt at a corner kick late on against Chelsea, directly springing a blue counter attack that pushed the game out of reach.

Would Liverpool have scored on that corner kick if someone, ANYONE else delivered it? Probably not, no. But it won’t keep fans from thinking what if? Martin Skrtel was a man possessed on set pieces, and with the right delivery I mean–

Ugh. This is what happens when Aspas’ name is mentioned. Why do you continue to haunt Liverpool, Iago Aspas?

That alone nearly pulled him into the absolute basement of this list but Balotelli took that crown based on transfer fee paid, wages spent as well as the looming possibility of Liverpool struggling to permanently sell the Italian.
