Since Jurgen Klopp took over, the goals have flowed more freely than the tail end of Brendan Rodgers’ time at Anfield. What players are responsible for the revolution?

The attacking verve and swagger is back. Wednesday night wasn’t just a great performance by the club, it was a statement: Jurgen Klopp’s methods are working and Liverpool were rampant in their destruction of Southampton. The Reds scored six against a strong Saints team but more than the goals it was the way Liverpool played to overcome an early deficit that pleased the fans.

Under Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool, from the start of last season had only recovered nine times from the 29 matches when they conceded first. That included only four wins and five draws. Klopp’s Liverpool seem to have more belief in themselves and that has culminated in some great away performances.

The 4-1 win at The Etihad, the 3-1 at Stamford Bridge and this one at St. Mary’s certainly proves that Liverpool are no pushovers and can never be counted out in a game. The other aspect which seems to have transformed by Klopp is the confidence and belief of the players.

Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Alberto Moreno and Emre Can all seem to be operating in starring roles whenever they put on the red of Liverpool. While youngsters such as Divock Origi and Jordon Ibe have found another gear under Klopp. The German did state that many wanted to sign Origi but his performance in the Capital One Cup quarter final against Southampton was something out of the blue.

‘Enjoyment’ is the crux of Liverpool’s new found ruthlessness, as Klopp stated to the media after the 6-1 rout of Southampton but scoring goals – which was a problem during the end of Rodgers’ time – isn’t a problem anymore for the Reds.

"“I only think about the next game and how all of us can enjoy our next game.” “We could enjoy the second half of the Southampton game on the bench, not because the game was finished but because the players never lost concentration and did what they had to do until the end. You could see the body language of the Southampton players change, not my side. That is a good sign.”"

The Reds have scored 18 goals in their last seven games but have used a range of strikers due to injuries. We checkout how each attacker has performed under the new boss.
