Daniel Sturridge
Having played for the first time under Klopp at St. Mary’s, Sturridge proved he has the quality to turn matches on their heads. The Englishman scored a brace and both goals were expertly finished which actually brought Liverpool back into the game.
Sturridge, though, has had a frustrating time with injuries at Liverpool, having only played thrice all season prior to his appearance in the Capital One Cup. The star striker, who does have the best goals-to-games ratio in Premier League history for the Reds, will hope to stay fit for the rest of the season.
It isn’t just his finishing ability that makes him such an important clog for Liverpool: his movement and pace are second to none for the team and if he can replicate his scoring record to that of the 2013 season, he could score more than the 20+ league goals he managed with Luis Suarez.
With Liverpool just 6 points off the top of the Premier League, Sturridge’s fitness could well be the factor that pushes Liverpool to a top four finish.
Performance under Klopp: 8/10
He might have played just one game but that was enough to show what he is capable off, just need him to stay fit. His rating would have been a 10 had he played a few more games.
