Liverpool have some hard fixtures coming in the second half of the season, and Rush the Kop look at the most important games on the road to a Champions League spot
Rush the Kop take a look at the most important fixtures to come in the second half of the Premier League season in order for Liverpool to make it into the top four.
2015 hasn’t been the most successful year for Liverpool football club, and after a rather disappointing 14/15 season, the reds are looking to return to the Champions League by finishing in the top four this campaign. They sit just inside the top ten, and have struggled at times during the first half of the 15/16 season, however big wins away against rivals Manchester City and Chelsea leave the fans with hope.
If Jurgen Klopp can inspire the squad and transfer his energetic personality into the players, then maybe, just maybe, Liverpool can fight their way into the top four. It’d take a solid set of performances and a vast improvement from the reds, but with that goal of a glorious Champions League return teasing the fans, there’s nothing the supporters want more.
The first half of the season has been somewhat shaky. We struggled under Brendan Rodgers, but benefited during the honeymoon period with Jurgen Klopp, before fell back into bad form in December. Liverpool managed to win the last two league fixtures of the year, both won by a single goal from Belgian forward Christian Benteke. The wins weren’t the most reassuring, but the three points is all that really matters. Liverpool end the year in 7th place, on equal points with rivals Manchester United but behind on goal difference.
