Liverpool and Arsenal explode into a six goal thriller for the neutrals, split evenly 3-3. Rush The Kop’s Liverpool player ratings.

Let’s all take a few deep breaths, exhale. Repeat. What a match it was for the neutral, 3-3. But it was absolutely nerve racking and frustrating for fans.

Because we don’t know how Arsenal fan’s truly felt, our only testimonial can be from us Liverpool fans. It was incredibly infuriating, even with a late goal salvaging a point, Liverpool simply left two points on the field.

Think: if the keepers switched sides, Liverpool could have won 4-1.

New Liverpool signing Steven Caulker made his debut… at striker then defensive midfield for the last minutes. NBC broadcaster Graeme Le Saux joked that whoever scouted the player did a horribly job, not noticing he was a center back.

The recency theory states that it was one point gained rather than two points lost, but there’s still a sour smell emanating from this match.

Why is there such a fear for playing simply? When Christian Benteke comes on, and to borrow from Le Saux again, just launch a few diagonal lobbed passes into his forehead. They didn’t do that until after Caulker came on to partner Benteke. They did, the Belgian knocked one down for Allen who finished. The game doesn’t have to be that complicated sometimes.

Then, after the equalizer, Liverpool refused to put another ball in the air for the last three-four minutes.

Match stats: Liverpool 3 (Firmino x2, Allen) Arsenal 3 (Giroud x2, Ramsey).
