GK – Marc-Andre ter Stegen

One of the more unlikely, however appealing, transfer links is Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Currently playing for Barcelona, ter Stegen has been linked with a switch to Liverpool after some unconvincing performances from first choice keeper Simon Mignolet. Adam Bogdan has also contributed some convincing performances – convincing everyone that he needs to leave the club as soon as they can throw him out the door.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen is a very reliable keeper, playing 36 matches and keeping 12 clean sheets for Barcelona. Despite Manuel Neuer’s status as probably the best keeper in the world, ter Stegen has even managed to earn himself 4 international caps for Germany. His quality and goalkeeping ability is proved in each appearance he makes, and at only 23 years of age the keeper has so much potential to grow into one of the worlds best.

However unlikely, ter Stegen would easily become the first choice goalkeeper if he moves to Liverpool. He would surely reduce the number of goals Liverpool concede, and I doubt he’d follow in the footsteps of Simon Mignolet and give away goals by holding the ball three times longer than the rules allow. I think this is a transfer the Liverpool fans would be ecstatic about, given their criticism of both Simon Mignolet and Adam Bogdan.
