Liverpool vs Manchester United: Combined XI
By Ethan Lowe
ST- Sadly…Wayne Rooney
Wayne Rooney’s age has appeared to finally start catching up to him this season, with the England captain holding a record worse than Martial’s. In 17 league games, Rooney has only managed to score 5 goals and get 2 assists – with two of those goals and one of the assists coming in the last game against Newcastle.
Wayne Rooney makes it into this team based on form, and how good his performance against Newcastle was. 2 goals and an assist put him in good stead heading into United’s Anfield visit, and with Liverpool injuries, Christian Benteke is currently their only striker.
Benteke’s lack of movement and frustrating positioning leaves him looking out of place in the Liverpool side, and he has been all but useless upfront in recent games, making Rooney the choice in this position. However, if Sturridge
even manages to play football again
was fit he would easily take this position in the combined XI.
