(AML) João Teixeira – 8

Have I mentioned before how Joao Teixeira is one of my favourite academy players? The answer is probably yes, because I feel a need to share that every single time I write about him. Teixeira was very impressive against Exeter, and Twitter seemed to agree that he challenged for the ‘man of the match’ award. The skilful 23 year-old has excellent ball control, and uses some impressive dribbling to beat players.

His creativity was essential against Exeter, and his movement allowed Christian Benteke to pick him out, from which a composed Teixeira wrapped up the game with a nice third goal. Fans on Twitter were discussing how they feel Teixeira should earn a shot in Liverpool’s league starting team, alongside the regularly featured players. I think after his solid display against Exeter, he is more than in for a shout.
