Dick Advocaat was hired, wanted to leave, wanted to stay again, then finally left Sunderland in 6 months (oh, and managed to keep them in the Premier League)

He did a great job in keeping Sunderland up- who looked destined to be relegated at the end of last season, but left in October, on the same day Brendan Rodgers left Liverpool.

He was appointed with the job shortly after Gus Poyet was sacked by the club, it was initially a temporary role designed to keep the team in the Premier League. After a 4-1 thrashing at home to Crystal Palace, Advocaat eventually turned it around with back-to-back wins vs Southampton and Everton.

A 0-0 draw at Arsenal eventually guaranteed Sunderland’s safety. However, after a poor start to the 2015/16 season, Advocaat left the job, allowing Sam Allerdyce and take over.
