Jose Mourinho won the league with Chelsea- but was sacked 7 months later

It’s been entertaining for the rest of the league to watch Chelsea’s decline this season, but no one in August would’ve bet that Jose Mourinho would be out of a job by the end of 2015- that’s football.

Mourinho won the league in May, and very comfortably. Despite a poor showing in the Champions League, the 2014/15 season was considered a successful one by owner Roman Abramovic, and Mourinho spent well in the summer, signing Pedro from Barcelona and Asmir Begovic from Stoke City.

The decline started in pre-season, with Chelsea failing to win a game of their pre-season tour in America, then lost in the Community Shield against Arsenal in August at Wembley. Since there, Mourinho had the scandal with Eva Caneiro, and was 16th in the league when he sacked in December.

Guus Hiddink has since arrived for his second stint and Chelsea, but there hasn’t yet been a dramatic improvement in the team’s form.
