James Milner – 6.5
I thought James Milner was far too uninvolved during the first half, however when required, the experienced midfielder showed his versatility to adapt as the game did. He played the assist for Firmino’s first goal, and was rather unlucky not to bag himself a second – although he could have done better.
Milner showed a coolness that only experience can provide, slotting in the goal to take Liverpool 4-3 up in the 75th minute. That;’s the sort of play that can win games, and Milner has the level of experience to keep his place in this Liverpool team. He can be almost invisible one minute, and then providing assists and goals the next, which is both a negative and a positive trait.
