Liverpool player ratings: 0-1 (6-5) Stoke City
By Ethan Lowe
Roberto Firmino – 7
Another promising performance from Brazilian, with Roberto Firmino being one of the best players in the side. His passing was superb for the most part, and his touch was as good as it has been during the last few games. Sadly, Firmino lacked the performances form players around him to be effective. He had Liverpool’s first shot on target in extra time (yep, it took that long) and took a brilliant side-foo penalty.
Substitutes –
Joe Allen – 7.5
If Allen had managed to start the game, I have no doubt in saying he would be rated much higher. He came on and changed the game, passing well and getting involved in the attacking play. He also won us the game by scoring the final penalty. I have no clue how Joe Allen is not starting, because despite the stick he receives he looks like Liverpool’s best performing midfielder.
Christian Benteke – 6.5
Christian Benteke had a better appearance than usual, making some clever passes and using his hold-up play well. His touched was good also, he just lacked the goals which are expected of him. He still either runs wide or towards the ball, instead of playing like a typical striker who looks like an actual threat.
Jordan Ibe – 5
Came on and offered very little. He was greedy, going for glory with a poor shot, and didn’t offer much in terms of going forward either.
