Steven Caulker – 7

For his first appearance at centre-back, Caulker impressed while managing to keep a clean sheet. He had chances in either box, but linked up with Dejan Lovren better than expected to keep the Irons out of this game. His height and strength means we struggled less with set pieces, and he put in some strong tackles to make his mark on the match.

Steven Caulker looks like a great back-up defender, and should really be used in his preferred position as oppose to being an emergency striker. He has the opportunity here at Liverpool to impress and actually earn himself a place in this team, allowing him to get his career back on track. I hope Caulker keeps playing as well as he did today, and I think Jurgen Klopp did well getting him on loan.
