Mattia Perin/Genoa/23-years-old

Perin has been a bright spot on the 16th placed Genoa in Serie A, who’re hanging around right near the drop zone. Genoa have conceded 28 goals over 24 games, which is a great defensive record for where they are in the table. The four teams below them and the two directly above have allowed: 47, 50, 40, 43, 39 and 37.

So the Genoa defense and Perin are preforming at a rate atypical of where their team is situated in the league.

The 23-year-old seems certain to leave at the end of the season, it just depends where. Roma are the only real “big” team in Italy that could use a keeper, so Liverpool may have little resistance should they decide to make their move.

Perin has five clean sheets in 17 appearances this term, with 51 saves. Mignolet has four less saves in seven more appearances.

Should Liverpool swing and miss on the next three players, Perin would be a good alternative. He shouldn’t be first priority, but he would certainly be an upgrade.
