Christian Benteke – 7

Surprisingly, I don’t think Christian Benteke played all that badly. He, like Mignolet, gets terrorised on social media despite his best efforts to effect the flow of the game. Okay, so he missed a sitter that should have taken us ahead, which is far from okay when you consider his price tag. Yet he had the most chances for Liverpool, and actually took shots and won his aerial duels. I would rate Benteke far lower if any of the other players really rivalled his attacking influence in this game. People seem to ignore his two back-post efforts that forced great saves. He’s a player in poor form, and he just needs a bit of luck to break that.

Substitutes –

Divock Origi – 6.5

It felt good to see Origi get some minutes, and his movement down the left flank was something Liverpool have lacked in his absence.

Daniel Sturridge – 7

Sturridge came into the game and showed us once again what we missed. The guy looks hungry and was beating players for fun, sticking in a nice turn followed by a cheeky nutmeg. Can’t wait to see what he does next game!

James Milner – N/A
