What players in the Liverpool squad should stay or go in the summer when Jurgen Klopp gets his first real opportunity of making changes to the team?

Liverpool Football Club are in for a busy summer. This is good news considering the fact that Liverpool, simply put, don’t have many great players. Which is problematic for a team aspiring to challenge with other clubs that do, in fact, have many great players.

How many players in the current Liverpool team would get into the Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham squads? Hell, even the over achieving Leicester City and underachieving Chelsea? Not many.

It’s not completely grim, though. Liverpool have a world class manager in Jurgen Klopp. They have Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, Nathaniel Clyne and the illusion of Daniel Sturridge. That’s a good start. That’s half of a respectable starting XI.

This summer there will be an abundance of ins and outs with Klopp’s first chance at putting his stamp on the team. He’s already got Marko Grujic and Joel Matip on the way.

This post will be deciding which of the players on the team should stay or go. They’re situated in a positional sequence. Goalies, defenders, midfielders, strikers.

Matip and Grujic aren’t included because they’re not on the team yet. Mario Balotelli and Lazar Markovic weren’t included, either.

Here we go, starting with Simon Mignolet. Oh boy.
