DM Lucas Leiva: SELL

Lucas has been a great servant to the club. And in the right circumstances, he should stay. Similar to Lovren, this depends on the player.

If Lucas wants to start most/all league games and be a first choice midfielder, then he should be moved on. If he wants to stay as a rotation option, a player that gets played in particular match-ups, then that’d be cool, too.

The problem there would be creating a clogged midfield with young players that deserve some minutes. As it stands, Emre Can, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Marko Grujic, Jordan Rossiter and Joe Allen would all stake claims to play. Not to mention if Klopp upgrades with a top central midfielder, with is possible if not probable.

Lucas becomes superfluous in the midfield. His defensive contributions are useful, but may not be necessary. Plus, it’s reasonable to think the player would want regular football. A lot of teams similar in stature to Liverpool could offer him that, if not in England than in other countries.

Around £10-12million would be a fair asking price for the Brazilian.
