CM Emre Can: STAY

Finally being allowed regular time in his preferred and natural role in the center of the park, Can is reaffirming his status as a promising young player. He was brought in from Bayer Leverkusen the summer of 2014 in a cheaper deal than most around him. Can was bought for £10million, similar fees for Moreno and Origi, £16million on Balotelli, £20million on Lovren, £20million on Markovic, £25million on Lallana, and the German outplayed them all in his first season at Liverpool.

That first season was largely spent as a center back in a back three, and he excelled there.

(I promise to not mention his disastrous appearances at right back if you promise, too)

In the summer, it’s likely a higher profile midfielder will be bought, displacing Can from a certain slot in the starting XI every match. That’s okay, the 22-year-old doesn’t need to play every single match nor be consistently relied on as a spark plug. Being first man up behind Henderson and a mystery midfielder sounds great, with regular rotation and with Klopp’s admiration for playing three center midfielders together he’ll have plenty of opportunities.
