CB Dejan Lovren: STAY

See what I did there? That’s a little thing I like to call having a plan. Which I usually don’t. So that’s a plus.

Anyway.

The case for Lovren is a unique one. I’ve opted at this moment to keep, but, that could change with the right offer. That’ll also hinge on how he finishes this season. As it stands, he’d be behind Matip, Sakho and Skrtel. Would he be cool with being the fourth choice central defender, maybe fifth defending on how Joe Gomez returns from injury?

If a club comes forth, possibly from China where apparently owners bathe in bathtubs filled with money, with a £15million offer, Liverpool would be foolish to decline that.

Lovren has shown, in spurts, the form that made Liverpool buy him for £20million. That player is underneath his accustomed form of his shocking decisions to chase a midfielders to the touchline, but it’s there. After Sakho’s first injury in the Klopp reign, he played like the true leader and alpha male on the back line.

Then, because of course, he got hurt, too. Injuries seemed to only occur when a player started playing well this season.

Think: Ings, Gomez, Sakho, Lovren, Skrtel, Coutinho. All these players were on form when they were stricken down with injuries.
