Liverpool and Manchester City play in the League Cup final. But what players would make a combined XI on Sunday?

The League Cup final. Who cares if it’s the Mickey Mouse Cup, at the end of the football, there’ll be a trophy presentation. That’s all that matters. That’s all the motivation necessary.

We decided to do a League Cup final combined XI between Liverpool and Manchester City.

Being a League Cup final XI, the likes of Kevin de Bruyne will be sacrificed from a certain slot in the first team as he’s injured. The players selected are the ones that are fit for Sunday’s final.

Jurgen Klopp gets his first chance at bringing hardware to his new club, and Manuel Pellegrini gets a chance to win a trophy before ceding to Pep Guardiola in the summer. Both managers will have decisions to make about their own teams,  but how many Liverpool players would get into this City squad?

Not that many. Even if City are underachieving. And it would’ve been less had de Bruyne been fit.

4-2-3-1.
