Liverpool-Manchester City League Cup final combined XI
By Tom Bogert
ST Sergio Aguero
What can be said about Aguero? This player is bona fide world class. He’d at least challenge the Luis Suarez stratosphere if he weren’t so frangible. Not quite to Sturridge levels, but he’s bound for an injury every year, which is unfortunate to fans of great, attacking football.
When Liverpool beat City earlier in the season 4-1, Aguero carved a chance out of literally nothing and beat Mignolet from 25 yards out. And as much as we love pointing fingers at the Belgian, he had absolutely nothing to do with Aguero’s brilliance.
Aguero may feast on Liverpool’s backline, that’ll likely include one of Kolo Toure or Lucas Leiva, and humiliate Mignolet. This is why Liverpool must play attacking against the Citizens, they can’t sit back because it’s only a matter of time before Aguero does the business.
Remember when Liverpool had a striker this good? Man, good times.
