Simon Mignolet – 7

This is one of the most difficult games I’ve needed to rate Migs for. His horrible blunder let City take the lead, but every moment from then on he was unbeatable. He saved two great shots from Aguero, keeping us in the game, and dealt with every sticky situation in miracle-working fashion.

Then came the penalties. He guessed every direction correctly, and didn’t make the save, whereas Willy Cabellaro guessed the right way and made the saves. Penalties are always hard for goalkeepers, and it’s too easy to blame one, but Mignolet could have possibly done better. Overall, its another love him or hate him night. He messed up and let City score, but then stopped three more goals with outstanding saves.
