Lucas Leiva – 8.5 Man of the Match

I called this before the match, because it was obvious that Lucas was going to do well in this final. The guy has put in several strong performances at CB now, and having missed out on so many Wembley appearances with injuries it’s no surprise he played the way he did. Lucas challenged everything, putting in strong tackles and blocks, clearing every ball and distributing well from the back.

He rocked it, and I think everybody on twitter recognised his sheer brilliance throughout that game. I’ve seen so many calls for him to be captain now too, given the fact he was more commanding and influential than Jordan Henderson could dream of being. Was unlucky to have his penalty saved, but had the guts to step up when the captain and Milner didn’t.
