Jordan Henderson – 6

I’m yet to see the old Jordan Henderson. If Hendo is still struggling with his foot injury, then some credit needs to be given for his effort, but the player is lacking compared to his former self. He did better today than he has recently, playing several good passes while still failing to find his long range precision. He took one poor shot that was going wide until it got deflected, and overall offered significantly less than most of the team going forward.

What I did like about Hendo in this match was his strength and grit to fight. He got back, pushing and pressing ever City player he could, throwing in tough tackles and bringing a physicality that the reds lacked before now. This was good, but he was still unable to motivate and lead the team as is expected of him. I swear he shouts and cries more than he tries to get the team going, which is a real shame.

Lucas Leiva did a better job getting things going from the back, and he showed more passion than our captain for the entirety of that game. Henderson is a good player, still struggling to find his best form, but it’s becoming debatable whether or not he is a true captain.

Also, Steven Gerrard (or any other true captain) would have leapt up to take the first penalty and lead the way for the rest of the team. Was disappointed not to see Hendo lead the way and set the tone for the team.
