Emre Can – 7

I was very impressed with Emre Can, who has struggled in recent weeks to find his form. In the final, it seemed as though he had decided that no matter what he’d play with his heart on his sleeve, and boy did he look like a true Liverpool star. A strong tackle on Clichy prevented a City break and sent a message to every blue on the pitch that they weren’t welcome in our half.

Emre contributed some stunning tackles, and was more involved in passing play than he has been recently. He showed some real character to work as hard as he did, and I loved watching him step up to the mark. He could go on to establish himself as a real key player in our future side, but as of now our midfield doesn’t entirely gel.
