LB Brad Smith

Baptism by fire, as they say.

With Moreno likely out because of a training injury, Smith is the man to step up and get the start at Old Trafford. He’ll have an experienced team around him to help him cope, and it’ll be exciting to see how the player gets on. This could be a defining moment to his Liverpool career.

If all goes well, then Liverpool have a viable option to push Moreno and Flanagan for minutes, and competition is key.

Smith will fill the chasm in the final third that Moreno fills as he is a willing runner forward, which means Phil Coutinho won’t have much to adapt to, and he’s got a better end product than the Spaniard.

The lack of Moreno’s pace will be unfortunate, though.
