ST Daniel Sturridge

Sturridge needs to stake his claim to Klopp as Liverpool’s best option. He’s being pushed like he’s never been at this club. Ever since he was bought, he was a no-doubt-about-it inclusion in the starting XI when fit, be it next to Luis Suarez or in Suarez’s wake after he left.

Now, he’s been pushed and passed by Divock Origi until he got hurt, and was even dropped for Firmino in a false nine capacity.

This has led to rational quotes from Sturridge about possibly leaving, and you just can’t blame him. He’s a near world class striker who’s not getting the playing time he deserves. Maybe this is Klopp pushing the best out of his striker, or maybe he really just doesn’t rate him as much as he says he does.

This match against Villarreal is hugely important for the club and player, Liverpool need Sturridge to perform well.
