Who would have thought that we’d be sitting here looking to Dejan Lovren as Liverpool’s best option, the man the defense will lean on this time last year? Most thought he wouldn’t last the summer at Liverpool.

At the tail-end of Brendan Rodgers’ stay at Liverpool this season, Lovren was kicking on and showing some signs of life and his form was starting to improve. Then since Klopp took over, Lovren has continued to hit new gears and has finally got his confidence back.

Even before Mamadou Sakho got suspended, Lovren had been Liverpool’s best center half over the last few months, a true testament to the Croatian’s attitude to continue to work, despite all of the stick he’d received from the fans, he still loves the club and the supporters.

Lovren could’ve been petty, but he decided to be bigger and tried to understand that fans would say garbage to any player who’d underperformed.
